Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity?  We are looking for Foreperson(s) – Rail Vehicles to join our Streetcar Maintenance team!

What You Will Do

  • You will be responsible to monitor and track information, data, records, and/or equipment inventory, following up, and updating as required.
  • You will assist or prepare reports, estimates, employee related documents, schedules, inventory, etc., and distribute to appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.
  • You will also provide assistance in the preparation, development, monitoring, or other needs for a given project or organizational unit.
  • You will ensure employees are appropriately trained on aspects of work, policies, and safety, and that track maintenance projects are aligned with standards.
  • You will also liaise with other colleagues, support staff, other departments, and potentially external customers or stakeholders concerning routine matters related to the work assigned.
  • You will plan, adjust, and project work, schedules, costs, and systems as needed.
  • You will verify the accuracy, quality, reliability, functionality, system requirements, and/or specifications are met in a given process, document, piece of equipment, system, or work method.
  • You will review data for discrepancies, errors, trends, or potential cost savings, report and provide suggested solutions as necessary. Evaluate the impact and implications of findings.
  • You will complete tasks required to manage employees (administrative duties) along with approving or authorizing requests which are standard and meet related policy expectations and compliance regulations.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

  • Your education will consist of a completion of post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Additionally, a valid Ontario College of Trades Certificate of Qualification 310 series trades license would be considered an asset.
  • Your application will reveal directly related work-experience in an environment where vehicle components and vehicle bodies would be inspected, maintained and repaired to safety critical standards, and prepared for service.
  • Your application will also reveal thorough knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and air-conditioning systems utilized on revenue and service vehicles, combined with a sound knowledge of diagnostic, inspection, repair and maintenance procedures for these components and vehicle structures.
  • Your application must reveal an Understanding of how the various skills associated with the maintenance of revenue and non-revenue transit vehicles are utilized in a vehicle repair environment.
  • You must have the ability to supervise the activities of a group of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled unionized employees.
  • Your application will reveal a good understanding of the applicable regulations governing the maintenance of transit vehicles and applicable environmental regulations.
  • You must have effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to create and interpret technical reports.
  • You must have strong scheduling and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • You must have a valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license in good standing.
