About the Position:

The Associate, Finance and Operations is an integral member of the Finance & Operations Team and will play a pivotal role in performing day-to-day accounting duties, preparing budgets and forecasts, improving management reports using advanced Excel functions for data analysis, and conducting budget variance analysis. The successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail, along with excellent time-management abilities. Additionally, the Associate will be responsible for maintaining effective communication with members of the Finance team and managing multiple deadlines to support our corporate financial operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate corporate accounting records, including preparing and posting journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements along with related working papers.
  • Coordinate and complete assigned month-end close processes within the deadline. These processes involve revenue and expenses accruals, expense allocation, foreign exchange translation, and consolidation.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying and promptly resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist in reviewing, reconciling, and assessing subsidiary entities’ books.
  • Prepare a monthly operating expenses report for cost center owners.
  • Compile month-end and quarter-end management and regulatory reporting packages.
  • Review invoice coding for accuracy and assist with accounts payable (A/P).
  • Calculate and file corporate HST (Harmonized Sales Tax).
  • Prepare year-end audit supporting working papers and support the annual financial audit.
  • Contribute to the continuous process improvements in operating processes and reporting.
  • Participate in system implementation and projects as required.

 

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong skills in Excel and Word, including pivot tables and advanced Excel functions.
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Experience with Yardi is an asset.
